Our aim
Real Deal CPA wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, screen magnification or other assistive technology. We build and test the site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, at level AA.
How we test
Every page is checked automatically each time the site changes: an accessibility scan at phone and desktop sizes and with reduced motion, readable contrast for every pairing of text and background color, a link that skips straight to the content, keyboard focus that stays clear of the header, and pages that fit a screen 320 pixels wide, including with wider spacing between lines, letters and words.
We also check by hand: every page with a keyboard alone, forwards and backwards; the pages zoomed to 200 percent; the film’s window opening, holding focus and closing with Escape; and the questionnaire answered on a phone, including its error messages, which say what to fix and move you to it.
What we know falls short
The homepage opens into a short slideshow of Andy and Liz without sound. Its words are also on the page, where the founders are introduced. The film of Andy and Liz that replaces it will have captions.
Our client portal and other services we link to are run by other companies, and their accessibility is theirs.
Tell us about a problem
If something on the site doesn’t work for you, email support@realdealcpa.com with the page and what happened, and we will work to fix it.
